My Safe Place

Physical, tangible, walls tumbling down,
The world around you gives off a loud sound.
You're startled, you're scared, you're running away
from the world you live in and your thoughts that stay.

Your feelings are heightened, the rush is real,
You're captivated by this beautiful ordeal.
The walls are closing in on your life,
You're consumed by the constant need for strife.

Escape is the only thing on your mind
where a haven is the place you need to find.
Somewhere that exceeds the rainbows of joy,
Where innocent bliss is apparent in every girl and boy.

This unrestrained contentment washes over you,
Till the peace is present and the love is true.
Its heaven on earth within your reach,
Experiencing a grace that no one can teach.

But then you think good things come to an end,
And your walls cave in with no strength to defend
your haven that you once held so dear,
Becomes a blur between selfishness and fear.

You know what you need
but not what to seek.
You're hanging by a thread
not knowing what's ahead.

But be reminded: there's good in every mistake,
Abundance of hope for your chains to break.
Despite it all your haven remains,
patiently removing the rust of your stains.
